Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using PeerBloc ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you and PeerBloc ("we," "our," or "us").
2. Description of Service
PeerBloc is a peer-to-peer (P2P) social media application that enables users to share content directly between devices. The App supports three connection modes: local P2P via Bluetooth/WiFi, Internet Relay via WebRTC encrypted tunnels, and optional Cloud Vault storage via user-provided AWS S3 buckets. The App operates with zero-knowledge architecture — we do not store or have access to user-generated content.
3. Account Registration
To use PeerBloc, you must:
- • Be at least 13 years of age
- • Create an account using Sign in with Apple
- • Provide accurate information when requested
- • Maintain the security of your account credentials
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
4. User Content
4.1 Ownership
You retain full ownership of all content you create and share through PeerBloc, including posts, photos, videos, and comments. We do not claim any ownership rights over your content.
4.2 P2P Nature of Sharing
When you share content through PeerBloc, it is transmitted directly to connected peers via local P2P or encrypted Internet Relay. Once content is shared with another user's device, we cannot control how that user may use, store, or further distribute that content. Please share responsibly.
4.3 Content Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the content you share. Due to the P2P and zero-knowledge nature of the App, we do not moderate, review, or filter content shared between users.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use PeerBloc to:
- • Share illegal content or content that violates others' rights
- • Harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate other users
- • Share content depicting child exploitation or abuse
- • Distribute malware or attempt to compromise other devices
- • Impersonate other individuals or entities
- • Use the App for any commercial spam or unsolicited advertising
- • Abuse the Internet Relay infrastructure (e.g., DDoS, excessive bandwidth)
- • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- • Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law
6. Subscriptions & In-App Purchases
PeerBloc offers optional premium features available through Apple subscriptions:
- • Pro and Ultra are monthly auto-renewing subscriptions
- • Subscriptions are processed by Apple and subject to Apple's terms
- • You may cancel at any time through your Apple ID settings
- • Refunds are handled through Apple's standard refund process
- • Features are tied to your Apple ID and transfer across devices
7. Internet Relay Service
The Internet Relay service is provided to facilitate WebRTC connections between peers:
- • The relay server is a signaling service only — it does not store user content
- • We provide relay infrastructure on a best-effort basis with no uptime guarantees for the free tier
- • Priority relay servers are available to Ultra subscribers
- • We reserve the right to rate-limit or suspend relay access for abusive usage
- • The relay service may be subject to maintenance windows
8. Cloud Vault (S3 Storage)
Cloud Vault is an optional premium feature that connects to your own AWS S3 bucket:
- • You are responsible for providing and maintaining your own AWS account and S3 bucket
- • You are responsible for all AWS costs associated with your S3 bucket (storage, data transfer, API requests)
- • PeerBloc is not liable for any AWS charges incurred through Cloud Vault usage
- • You are responsible for the security configuration of your AWS account and S3 bucket
- • Data stored in your S3 bucket is encrypted client-side — we do not have decryption keys
- • You are responsible for backup and data retention policies on your S3 bucket
- • PeerBloc is not responsible for data loss in your S3 bucket due to AWS outages, misconfigurations, or account issues
9. Intellectual Property
The PeerBloc name, logo, visual design, and underlying technology are our intellectual property. You may not use our branding without written permission. The App's source code, algorithms, and architecture are proprietary.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP, RELAY SERVICE, OR CLOUD VAULT INTEGRATION WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPLETELY SECURE. DUE TO THE P2P NATURE OF THE APP, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE THE DELIVERY, INTEGRITY, OR AVAILABILITY OF CONTENT SHARED BETWEEN PEERS.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PEERBLOC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, RELAY SERVICE, OR CLOUD VAULT. THIS INCLUDES, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, AWS CHARGES, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP OR SUBSCRIPTIONS IN THE PRECEDING 12 MONTHS.
12. Data Loss
Because PeerBloc stores data locally on your device, you are responsible for backing up your content. Cloud Vault provides an optional encrypted backup mechanism using your own S3 bucket. We are not liable for any data loss resulting from device failure, App deletion, AWS issues, or any other cause.
13. Termination
You may stop using PeerBloc at any time by canceling your subscription (if applicable) and deleting the App. We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the App or relay services for users who violate these Terms. Upon termination, all locally stored data will remain on your device until you delete the App. Cloud Vault data remains in your S3 bucket under your control.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
